Welcome to William McInerney's Page

Thank you for visiting. This cause is very dear to me, and I'll appreciate all the support I can get! My wife and I are expecting our second child at the end of April. Naturally we were elated when we found out we were going to have another child. While going through the normal process of doctor visits and checkups throughout the early months of the pregnancy everything seemed to be the same as the first time around. Around the sixteenth week of pregnancy my wife had a scheduled blood test, we thought nothing of it. A few days after the blood test my wife received a phone call from the doctor’s office. The woman said my wife needed to get an emergency level II ultrasound but she needed to go to the hospital to get it done, not at the doctor’s office like the prior ultrasounds. They told us the blood test showed our new baby would have spina bifida. They wanted to get an ultrasound as soon as possible to check if the blood test results were accurate. Our appointment was not for three days so we started doing as much research on spina bifida as we could. We looked at the medical articles pertaining to spina bifida but also came across some amazing personal stories. At the ultrasound we found out that the blood test results were inaccurate and our new baby would not have spina bifida.
As thankful as I was our new baby would be healthy I wanted to do something to help. I was planning on doing a marathon this year because I thought it would be a good accomplishment since I will turn 30 years old in May. I knew the Chicago Marathon offered runners to run for a charity. After a quick search I found that the Illinois Spina Bifida Association had a team. I was able to secure a spot on the team and now I’m trying to help raise money for a good cause and some great people. If you’re able, please help me and donate whatever you can!!!!

Thank you in advance!

-William
